Reward Merity System: A society where the main motivator is reward. People are driven to do good because good actions are recognized, appreciated, or compensated. The focus is on positive reinforcement — you act well, and you earn benefits, praise, or privileges.

Punishment Merity System: A system where the primary motivator is the avoidance of punishment. Individuals follow rules or act correctly mainly to escape consequences. Doing good doesn’t necessarily earn you rewards, it simply helps you avoid penalties or negative outcomes.
